September 15, 2015

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to a new CCD year!  We are very happy to have your child(ren) enrolled in our Parish Religious Education Program.  The following information is important for you to be aware of:

  • 2014-15 CCD Teachers:

Kindergarten - Mrs. Kim Mozdzierz                                Gr 4 - Mrs. Jolanta Wiszniak        Gr 7 - Mrs. Cecilia Prytko

Gr 1 - Mrs. Marie Shoup                                                Gr 5 - Mrs. Marianne Quigley       Gr 8 - Mrs. Mimi Muth

Gr 2 - Miss Nancy O'Connor                                         Gr 6 - Mr. Jim Smart                        Hall Monitor - Miss Susan Aitner

Gr 3 - Mrs. Sylvia Morgan

  • The enrollment of your child(ren) in our CCD program evidences your intent and desire to further their knowledge and love for God and His Church. As faithful Catholic parents, it is essential that your child(ren) attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation. A special Mass is scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 9:30 am., during which, Father Krzysztof will bless all CCD students and teachers. More details will follow.
  • Please be punctual on Tuesdays. Classes are held from 4:00 pm-5:15 pm.
  • Any child(ren) not picked up by 5:30 pm will be taken to the CCD office (which is located in the lower level of the school building) to wait with a teacher, and/or myself, until you arrive.
  • If your child(ren) needs to leave class early, please send in a written note. We will not release any child early from class without written parental permission. We also ask for the parent to come to the building to pick up your child. There will be a hall monitor present at the locked door to assist you.
  • Safety is of utmost importance. Please park, drop off, and/or pick up your child in the upper parking lot. It is best to escort your child to the lower lot. Please drive slowly and exercise extreme caution. The lower parking lot (directly in front of the school) will be cordoned off from traffic.
  • Also regarding safety - Please supervise your child(ren) if they are playing on the playscape at the lower parking lot/bottom of hill. We do not have volunteers for this duty.
  • Homework assignments are given as per each teacher's discretion. Completed work and class participation are important parts of your child's religious education. We will hand out report cards at mid-term, and end of year. A student who persistently does not complete required work, and /or has excessive absences, will be reviewed by Father Krys before advancement to the next grade level.
  • We follow Vernon Public Schools closing/early dismissal schedule for bad weather. A group email (to parents who provided their addresses on the registration forms) will also be generated if CCD is to be canceled.

Thank you for bringing your child(ren) to CCD.   As we are so often reminded-the home is the domestic church.  A family that prays together, stays together!   We look forward to a new school year, and feel honored to teach your children about our beautiful Catholic faith.

God Bless you and your families - St. Joseph, pray for us!

Classes Gr. 1-8: Tuesdays 4:00 - 5:15 PM

Director of Religious Education: Kathie Mindek

The Confraternity of Christian Doctrine was established  for the purpose of giving religious education. Its modern usage, the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine is commonly referred to by its abbreviation, CCD or C.C.D., or simply as "Catechism," and provides religious education to Catholic children attending secular schools.

CCD attendance is considered to be vital to children’s faith development as Catholics. These classes educate children about Jesus and prepare children to receive the sacraments of Penance (confession), Holy Communion, and Confirmation so they can integrate them into their lives as they move into adulthood..
